The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh organized rallies condemning the alleged theft of water from the Indus River. Led by PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro, the rally included party members and supporters carrying placards denouncing the act. Khuhro warned of escalating protests if the issue remains unresolved.
The PPP conducted demonstrations at 130 locations in Sindh to protest the unfair distribution of Indus water. Khuhro emphasized the importance of water for life and criticized the authorities for neglecting the 1991 Water Apportionment Accord. He accused upstream provinces of receiving preferential treatment over Sindh.
Khuhro accused the authorities of diverting water meant for Sindh through various canals, causing agricultural damage and economic losses. He highlighted that Sindh continues to face water shortages while Punjab benefits from excess water usage. The PPP leaders vowed to intensify their protest if Sindh’s water rights are not upheld.
PPP South district president Javed Nagori affirmed the party’s commitment to safeguarding Sindh’s water rights, stating they would resist any attempts to deprive the province of its share. Nagori emphasized the party’s determination to protect Sindh’s legitimate water rights at all costs.
