There is credible intelligence indicating that the Pakistani establishment aims to eliminate the top leadership of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) to quell protests in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK). Despite warnings, the JAAC, leading protests against the system failures in PoK, remains steadfast. The Pakistan Army, led by Field Marshal Asim Munir, is growing impatient and pressuring the government not to yield to PoK demands.
Field Marshal Munir, adamant on suppressing the movement, is reportedly on the verge of ordering the top leadership’s killings. The JAAC leadership, aware of the imminent threat, has vowed to face force without fear of death. The movement, triggered by rising living costs and administrative neglect, accuses the establishment of stifling dissent instead of addressing public grievances.
India has voiced concerns over the use of force in PoK, condemning the atrocities committed against civilians. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson criticized Pakistan’s extreme police brutality, internet blackouts, and lethal force against unarmed civilians. Despite the escalating tensions, the JAAC plans a massive march, including women and children, to Muzaffarabad, defying security warnings.
The protests in PoK have evolved from peaceful demonstrations to a resilient resistance against the oppressive measures. The movement, now centered on resistance, persists despite crackdowns and threats from security forces. The JAAC’s determination to continue its march signifies a shift towards a more confrontational stance in the face of escalating tensions.
