Two Pakistani-flagged oil tankers, Khairpur and Shalamar, changed their direction while moving towards the Strait of Hormuz. Initially heading Eastward, the tankers made a 180-degree turn and headed West, as reported by Pakistan’s The News International citing Iran’s Fars news agency. The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil transit route, is managed by Iran’s armed forces, requiring coordination and authorization for vessel passage.
US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran regarding naval activities near American ships enforcing a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, emphasized the severe degradation of Iran’s naval capabilities, stating that any challenge to the blockade would result in immediate elimination of the vessels. The warning coincided with the US initiation of a blockade on Iranian ports following the breakdown of diplomatic talks with Tehran.
