Pakistan’s Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has disclosed a roster of 125 foreign companies that have ceased operations in the country by January 20, 2026. These companies, including branch and liaison offices of international entities, have formally shut down their businesses in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar. The diverse sectors these companies were engaged in showcase a broad foreign business presence in Pakistan prior to their closures.

The list encompasses companies from various countries that have withdrawn from Pakistan, spanning the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Turkiye, Australia, Sweden, Bahrain, Canada, France, and the Netherlands, among others. Recognizable global names such as ExxonMobil’s subsidiary, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Pakistan B.V., Panasonic Corporation, and Lufthansa German Airlines AG are among those that have wrapped up their operations.

Additionally, technology and telecom-related firms like Dell Global B.V., Nortel Networks (Asia) Ltd, and Telcordia Technologies, Inc. have also concluded their presence in the country. The list further includes companies associated with the oil and gas sector, engineering and construction, banking, insurance, consulting, and manufacturing, ranging from Halliburton Limited and Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co., Limited to Mashreq Bank and T.C. Ziraat Bankasi A.S. Some international non-profit and trade organizations, such as the American Soybean Associations and Peace Winds Japan, are also part of the list.

The SECP has confirmed that these companies have fulfilled the necessary legal procedures to close their branch or liaison offices in Pakistan. This development signifies a notable change in the foreign corporate landscape within the country, although specific reasons behind these closures have not been disclosed by the regulator.
