Reality star Paris Hilton has revealed her struggles with rejection sensitivity dysphoria (RSD), likening it to having a “demon in your mind.” Diagnosed with ADHD in her late 20s, Hilton later discovered she had RSD, an intense emotional reaction to perceived criticism or rejection. She described RSD as causing physical pain from negative thoughts, almost like a negative self-talk demon in one’s mind.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, there is a connection between RSD and ADHD. Hilton emphasized that individuals with RSD experience profound negative emotions and need to recognize when the condition influences their feelings. Despite facing challenges, Hilton aims to empower others by sharing her experiences and encouraging them to view RSD as a strength rather than a limitation.
Reflecting on her delayed ADHD diagnosis due to societal silence on the issue during her childhood, Hilton highlighted the impact on her education. She now seeks to reshape conversations around ADHD, viewing it as her superpower that has driven her success as an entrepreneur. While acknowledging the overwhelming aspects of ADHD, Hilton credits it for fueling her drive and forward-thinking mindset.
