The Ministry of External Affairs will implement higher charges for passport-related services starting July 1, 2026. The fee adjustments will impact various services including fresh passport applications, renewals, Tatkaal services, and replacements for lost or damaged passports. For adults, fees for a 36-page passport or renewal will rise from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500, and for a 60-page passport, the fee will increase from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500.
The revised fee structure will also affect Tatkaal scheme applications, with charges for a 36-page adult passport rising from Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000, and for a 60-page passport from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000. These adjustments will be applicable for applications submitted in India or abroad under the new fee schedule.
Moreover, individuals seeking replacement passports due to loss or damage will face increased charges. The fee for a 36-page passport replacement will be Rs 5,000 compared to the previous Rs 3,000, while for a 60-page passport replacement, the fee will be raised to Rs 6,000 from Rs 3,500.
