The Patna High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Dharmveer Singh and Karmveer Singh, nephews of Anant Singh, in connection with the murder case of Dularchand Yadav. This decision came after arguments from both the petitioners and the state were heard by Justice Prabhat Kumar Singh. Advocate Naresh Dixit represented the accused, while Additional Public Prosecutor Satyendra Singh argued on behalf of the state government.
The murder case of Dularchand Yadav, a supporter of a candidate from the Jan Suraaj Party during the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, is the focal point of this legal development. The incident took place on October 30, 2025, in Basawanchak village under Barh sub-division in Patna district. It stemmed from a clash between supporters of Anant Singh and Piyush Priyadarshi, candidates from JD(U) and Jan Suraaj Party, respectively.
Dharmveer Singh and Karmveer Singh are accused of forcibly removing Dularchand Yadav from his vehicle during the altercation, as alleged by the victim’s family. The family claims that Yadav was intentionally run over and shot by the accused and their associates. However, the post-mortem report indicated that the cause of death was cardio-respiratory failure, not a gunshot wound, with injuries consistent with a collision involving a heavy vehicle.
In a related development, Anant Singh, also involved in the case, was previously arrested and detained in Beur Central Jail in Patna. Despite his earlier bail plea rejection by the MP-MLA court, the Patna High Court granted him bail on March 19, 2026, leading to his release on March 23, 2026. The granting of anticipatory bail to Dharmveer Singh and Karmveer Singh suggests that the legal proceedings and investigation in the case will persist.
