Patna Police conducted an operation in Udayini village, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the injury of the alleged mastermind, Nitish Kumar, who was shot in the leg during the encounter. The operation, named ‘Operation Langda’, was executed based on specific intelligence inputs and involved the recovery of a motorcycle and spent cartridges from the scene.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma mentioned that the police team was fired upon by the suspects upon reaching Udayini village, leading to a retaliatory exchange of fire. Apart from the injured mastermind, four other accused were caught while trying to escape. All arrested persons are currently under interrogation at the police station.
The operation is connected to a recent Rs 27 lakh robbery in the Gopalpur police station area, where criminals intercepted a cash van, held the driver and security guard captive at gunpoint, and fled with the money. Following the robbery, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, and intensified efforts have now resulted in this significant breakthrough.
