Patna Police have made significant progress in the Anand Kumar murder case by apprehending four suspects and recovering the alleged crime motorcycle. The operation, led by a Special Investigation Team supervised by City Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar, stems from the discovery of Anand Kumar’s body on May 30, 2026, near the Beur police station limits in Patna.
A complaint from the victim’s family led to the registration of Case No. 320/26 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, prompting an investigation. The police first arrested Umesh Kumar alias Sutali Rai on June 4 and subsequently apprehended four more individuals based on technical and human intelligence.
During a press conference, Kumar revealed that the accused confessed to Anand Kumar’s murder being a contract killing. The shooters, Golu Kumar, Prince Kumar, and Mayank Kumar, were already in judicial custody for another criminal case. The motive behind the murder appears to be a longstanding family dispute over land involving Anand Kumar and Bhutali Rai.
The four newly arrested suspects, identified as Rajiv Kumar, Adarsh Kumar alias Golu, Roshan Kumar, and Gauri Shankar, were found with a motorcycle and mobile phones. The investigation continues to ascertain the roles of all involved individuals and gather additional evidence for legal proceedings.
