Penpa Tsering was sworn in for his second five-year term as the Sikyong (President) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) in Dharamsala, India. The ceremony, attended by the Dalai Lama, emphasized the CTA’s commitment to the Tibetan cause. Tsering reiterated the importance of following the Dalai Lama’s guidance in their pursuits.

Despite challenges in negotiations with China over Tibet’s occupation, Tsering affirmed the CTA’s dedication to the ‘middle-way policy’ advocated by the Dalai Lama. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to engage in backchannel communications with China while seeking international support for their cause.

Under Tsering’s leadership, the CTA aims to continue serving the Tibetan people and preserving their national identity. Tsering expressed gratitude for the support received from the Tibetan community, attributing their achievements to the guidance of the Dalai Lama and the people’s unwavering commitment.
