Railway Police at Howrah Metro Station apprehended an individual carrying 6.5 kg of silver bars, valued at approximately Rs 14 lakh, during a routine baggage scan. The incident occurred around 1 pm, prompting immediate police action. The silver bars, found in the passenger’s bag, were seized by the Railway Protection Force and the suspect was handed over to Golabari police.
The passenger, who arrived at the station in the afternoon, raised suspicion during luggage scanning, leading to the discovery of the silver bars. The individual was unable to provide valid documentation for the silver, resulting in their arrest by the police. The authorities are currently interrogating the arrested person to ascertain the source and destination of the silver bars, while also investigating the possibility of accomplices and previous smuggling incidents at the metro station.
