In Datia, a person named Kallu Kushwaha was fatally shot by unidentified attackers at Sevda Chungi on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred as Kushwaha was returning home after visiting a nearby temple, with assailants ambushing him and opening fire, resulting in his death. The attackers, numbering 5–6, fled on a motorcycle after instilling fear in witnesses.

The public killing has instilled fear among residents of Datia, with reports indicating that Kushwaha’s body remained unattended for nearly 30 minutes before police arrived. This delay has raised concerns about the area’s security measures, leading to protests by the victim’s family and others at the local police station. Police have assured swift action against the culprits, suspected to be motivated by an old feud.

Authorities are investigating the incident, with initial findings pointing towards personal enmity as a possible cause. Kushwaha, a former convict out on bail, had a criminal past and was involved in a previous murder case. The police have launched a manhunt and are examining CCTV footage to track down the perpetrators. The incident has reignited discussions on law enforcement effectiveness in smaller Madhya Pradesh towns.
