Chandranath Rath, a former Indian Air Force serviceman, served as the personal assistant to Suvendu Adhikari for seven years. Rath, who hailed from Adhikari’s native district of East Midnapore, played a crucial role in managing Adhikari’s schedule, files, meetings, and calls.
Joining Adhikari as a full-time associate in 2019, Rath continued his role when Adhikari transitioned to the BJP before the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections. Rath was by Adhikari’s side during his victory in the Nandigram Assembly constituency, where he defeated Mamata Banerjee.
Rath’s dedication was such that there were speculations before the elections that if Adhikari became the Chief Minister, Rath would serve as his Executive Assistant. Rath, known for his spiritual inclination since his youth, had even considered becoming a monk.
The BJP’s significant win in West Bengal saw Adhikari emerging victorious in both Nandigram and Bhabanipur constituencies. Rath’s family fondly remembers his commitment and spiritual nature.
