Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized the economic reforms initiated by the Narendra Modi government to enhance business ease and future prospects. Referring to it as the “Reform Express 2025,” the minister praised the consistent efforts in clearing obstacles and promoting governance. Prime Minister Modi’s stable leadership in a turbulent global scenario was also commended for its standout performance.
The minister outlined key achievements such as significant trade agreements, modern labor codes, the Securities Market Code Bill, and the Indian Ports Act 2025, which have laid the groundwork for upcoming growth opportunities. He highlighted the SHANTI Bill as a pivotal step towards modernizing India’s civil nuclear framework, underscoring the government’s commitment to progressive reforms.
Addressing reforms in the oil and gas sector, the minister highlighted the ORD Amendment Act, 2025, and the new PNG Rules 2025 aimed at enhancing investor confidence by ensuring lease stability and streamlining approval processes. These legislative measures focus on creating a conducive environment for investment, technology infusion, and accelerated hydrocarbon exploration and production.
The minister also mentioned the transformative impact of India’s new Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules, 2025, which aim to attract investments and boost domestic production through streamlined processes, infrastructure sharing, and investor-friendly policies. Initiatives like the Open Acreage Licensing Programme (OALP) and the National Deep Water Exploration Mission further underscore the government’s strategic focus on resource exploration and technology advancement in the energy sector.
