Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan led a brief online Cabinet meeting, marking the end of his second term. The meeting, lasting 10 minutes, held significance amidst Kerala’s upcoming election results. The outcome will determine if Vijayan secures a historic third term or if the Congress-led UDF takes power.
The Cabinet’s last session addressed various issues, including providing financial aid to the Valparai accident victims. An amount of Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund for the families of five deceased individuals. The beneficiaries included the families of the school bus driver Noushad Ali, cook Sajida, and others involved in the tragic incident.
Additionally, the government decided to cover the medical expenses of specific individuals affected by the accident. The Cabinet also approved the creation of 14 new posts to support the operations of the Twelfth Pay Commission. As the meeting concluded, Vijayan wished luck to his Cabinet colleagues, most of whom are contesting in the upcoming elections, marking a significant juncture in his political journey.
