Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal wrapped up discussions with US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer and his team aimed at advancing a bilateral trade agreement. Goyal expressed India’s commitment to enhancing economic ties with the United States for mutual benefit and growth opportunities.
During the meetings, both sides reviewed the progress of their trade talks and explored ways to strengthen their economic partnership. Goyal praised Ambassador Greer’s leadership and the joint efforts of the teams in moving the discussions forward constructively.
Earlier, Goyal held talks with Greer and US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, focusing on finalizing a balanced trade pact. The discussions aimed to align with the objectives set in the Joint Statement of February 7, 2026, to promote a fair and beneficial trade agreement between India and the US.
India and the United States are making significant strides towards finalizing a bilateral trade deal that could open up new economic prospects and deepen their economic relationship. The ongoing negotiations are crucial, especially with the impending expiry on July 24 of the temporary 10% tariff imposed by the US on its trade partners.
