Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal criticized Rahul Gandhi, the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition, for what he termed as baseless claims regarding the India-US trade agreement. Goyal labeled Gandhi a ‘habitual liar’ and accused him of spreading misinformation to mislead farmers. He emphasized that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, farmers’ interests are secure and prosperous.
Goyal defended the government’s stance, highlighting PM Modi’s prioritization of farmers’ welfare. He stated that the recent trade deal with the US safeguards farmers’ interests, ensuring the protection of major crops like wheat, millets, soya milk, corn, and spices. Goyal also pointed out the potential for increased export opportunities, benefiting farmers and boosting their incomes.
The Commerce Minister assured farmers that the trade agreement would lead to higher exports and increased demand, resulting in better prices and continuous prosperity. He emphasized that every decision made in the deal is in the best interest of all Indians, including farmers and youth. Goyal concluded by asserting that a proud, prosperous, and powerful India is achievable under PM Modi’s leadership, despite attempts by Rahul Gandhi to mislead and discredit the country.
