Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed confidence that the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement will boost trade, investment, and business opportunities between the two countries. Goyal, speaking in London, highlighted the positive outlook among businesses in India and the UK regarding the agreement.
During his visit, Goyal led the largest-ever Indian business delegation abroad, consisting of around 170 entrepreneurs and industry representatives from various sectors and regions of India. He emphasized the enthusiasm and optimism among businesses in both countries towards the agreement, noting the significant interest from companies looking to enhance bilateral ties.
Goyal underscored that the India-UK trade pact offers a comprehensive framework for long-term economic cooperation, extending beyond traditional trade in goods and services. He expressed hope that the agreement would strengthen the strategic partnership between India and the UK, fostering increased trade and investment opportunities.
Discussing India’s trade negotiations with the United States, Goyal mentioned that the US Trade Representative recently visited India for extensive discussions on the proposed bilateral trade agreement. He indicated that both countries are largely in agreement on various aspects of the deal.
