Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress for spreading misinformation on delimitation and engaging in what he termed as “negative politics.” He accused the Congress of following a divide-and-rule policy inherited from the British and misleading the public about the impact of delimitation on certain states.
Addressing the nation after the failure of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill on women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi emphasized that the issue goes beyond a single legislation. He highlighted a broader political battle against dynastic parties that resist reforms, pledging to persist in the struggle.
PM Modi expressed disappointment over the non-passage of the women’s reservation Bill, stressing that the effort was about granting rights to half of the population. He criticized parties like the Congress for obstructing the long-pending initiative due to what he called selfish politics.
The Prime Minister took aim at the Congress, DMK, Trinamool Congress, and Samajwadi Party, accusing them of hindering the progress of women in politics. He asserted that these dynastic parties fear empowering women in leadership roles, which could challenge their own dominance.
PM Modi highlighted the Congress’ opposition to key reforms aimed at advancing a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He listed several reforms, including GST, CAA, UCC, and others, which he claimed the Congress has consistently opposed, impacting its regional allies as well.
