Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended warm birthday greetings to former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. PM Modi praised Naidu’s commitment to national development, agriculture, rural progress, and the welfare of the underprivileged. Amit Shah commended Naidu for upholding constitutional values and raising citizens’ issues.
Born in 1949 in Andhra Pradesh, Venkaiah Naidu began his political journey during his student years. He played a significant role in the Jai Andhra Movement of 1972 and later became the convener of an anti-corruption organization. Naidu’s oratory skills, advocacy for farmers, and development of backward regions propelled his rise in public life.
Naidu, known for his distinctive communication style, served as the BJP’s national spokesperson between 1996 and 2000. He was appointed Union Cabinet Minister for Rural Development after the 1999 Lok Sabha elections. Naidu also held portfolios in Urban Development, Parliamentary Affairs, and Information and Broadcasting.
As a Rajya Sabha member, Naidu strongly advocated for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. He later became the 13th Vice President of India after resigning from the Union Cabinet. Apart from politics, Naidu is actively involved in social service through the Swarna Bharat Trust, focusing on education and skill development programs.
