The country marked the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrating India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War. This day remembers the 527 soldiers who lost their lives during Operation Vijay and acknowledges the courage and determination of the personnel who fought under extreme battlefield conditions.
The Kargil conflict, a significant event fought between May and July 1999, was the sole conventional war between two nuclear-armed neighbors. Despite challenging terrains and fortified enemy positions, Indian forces successfully repelled Pakistani intruders without crossing the Line of Control, earning global recognition for their professionalism and military restraint.
