Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva engaged in delegation-level talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The discussions aimed at enhancing the partnership between the two nations across various sectors such as trade, economy, education, investment, digitalization, the Global South, and other multilateral issues.
The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier announced that PM Modi and President Lula would review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations. The leaders also planned to exchange perspectives on regional and global matters of common concern, including collaboration in multilateral forums, reformed multilateralism, global governance, and issues related to the Global South.
During his visit, President Lula paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with President Lula to explore ways to advance the Strategic Partnership between India and Brazil. Jaishankar expressed optimism that the discussions between President Lula and PM Modi would inject fresh impetus into bilateral ties.
President Lula, who arrived in India for the 2nd AI Impact Summit, is accompanied by a delegation comprising about 14 ministers and top CEOs of Brazilian companies. This visit marks President Lula’s sixth trip to India, underscoring the enduring ties between the two nations. India and Brazil share a robust Strategic Partnership, underpinned by shared democratic values, strong people-to-people connections, and expanding collaboration across various sectors.
