Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Somnath temple as a symbol of India’s enduring spirit, recalling the shrine’s first attack a millennium ago. Members of the saint community reacted to Modi’s tribute, emphasizing the temple’s significance and the steadfast faith of Sanatan Dharma followers.
Dr. Jyotir Nath, President of the Sanatan Sant Committee, highlighted the temple’s mention in the Vedas and its status as the first Jyotirlinga. He expressed joy over the temple’s resurrection in 1026 and its enduring legacy till 2026, celebrating the occasion for all Sanatanis.
Describing the term ‘Somnath,’ Dr. Nath explained its meaning of spreading peace and prosperity, aligning with the temple’s essence. He emphasized the importance of well-being for all, especially in the current global scenario marked by conflicts.
Vijayanand Puri Maharaj of the Haridwar Kashi Peeth in Surat emphasized the central role of the Somnath temple among the Jyotirlingas. He praised the growth of faith and devotion under PM Modi’s leadership, noting a surge in devotees’ reverence for Lord Shiva.
Since 2014, Puri Maharaj observed a resurgence of Hindutva globally, crediting PM Modi’s tenure for strengthening faith. He asserted India’s position as a global leader and highlighted Hinduism’s resilience against historical challenges, emphasizing the continuous growth of Hindutva worldwide.
Describing the enduring faith embodied by the Somnath temple, Puri Maharaj noted the presence of Lord Dwarkadish there, symbolizing unity. He hailed India, Gujarat, and Surat, emphasizing the unity represented by Lord Somnath and Lord Dwarkadish in the region.
