Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his three-day State visit to Seychelles and departed for New Delhi. Before leaving, he met with members of the Indian community at the airport who greeted him with chants of “Modi, Modi” and “Vande Mataram.” During his visit, PM Modi paid respects at the Mahatma Gandhi statue, visited the Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple, and engaged with the Indian diaspora.
PM Modi attended Seychelles National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour, commemorating the nation’s Golden Jubilee of Independence. He expressed pride in India’s partnership with Seychelles and its commitment to further strengthening ties. PM Modi was honored with the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ award for his leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Discussions between PM Modi and Seychelles President Patrick Herminie focused on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including industries, connectivity, technology, and digital infrastructure. Both leaders highlighted the shared values and historical ties between the two nations. Agreements were signed to bolster bilateral relations in trade, digital technology, and agriculture.
Addressing the National Assembly of Seychelles, PM Modi emphasized the enduring partnership between India and Seychelles based on mutual values and friendship. The close ties between the two countries are deeply rooted in historical, cultural, and people-to-people connections, with a shared vision for security and growth in the Indian Ocean Region.
