Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for Abu Dhabi to kick off his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, with a focus on bolstering the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. During the trip, PM Modi is scheduled to engage in discussions with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan covering various cooperation areas such as trade, investment, energy security, and people-to-people connections.
The visit aims to strengthen the strategic and economic ties between India and the UAE, a significant partner for India in the Gulf region. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the visit will help enhance the substantial trade and investment connections between the two nations.
Energy security will be a central theme of PM Modi’s visit, with the anticipation of signing two crucial MoUs related to LPG and strategic petroleum reserves. The UAE stands as India’s third-largest trade partner and the seventh-largest source of investment over the past 25 years, as per the Ministry of External Affairs.
India’s strong Indian community of over 4.5 million in the UAE will also be a focal point during the visit, providing an opportunity to discuss their welfare and well-being. Following his UAE visit, PM Modi is set to travel to the Netherlands for further engagements, marking his second visit to the country since 2017.
In the subsequent legs of his tour, PM Modi will proceed to Sweden’s Gothenburg for talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to evaluate bilateral relations and seek avenues for enhancing trade cooperation. Additionally, both leaders will participate in the European Round Table for Industry alongside the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The visit’s itinerary also includes a stop in Norway for the 3rd India-Nordic Summit and bilateral discussions, followed by a visit to Italy where PM Modi will meet with President Sergio Mattarella and hold talks with Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.
