PM Modi Emphasizes Citizen Welfare in Government Reforms Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of keeping citizen welfare central to all reforms during a high-level meeting with top Central government officials. He highlighted the need for reforms that cater to people’s needs, aiming to bring about significant transformation. The objective, as per a PMO statement, is not just to enhance government operations but also to propel India towards becoming a developed nation.

The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s residence on 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, involved discussions with the Cabinet Secretary and Secretaries of key ministries to assess progress in rural development, agriculture, social welfare, and related sectors aligned with Viksit Bharat Goals. PM Modi advocated for a holistic government approach to achieve the nation’s development objectives, emphasizing the importance of engaging India’s youth in realizing the vision of a developed India.

Addressing the issue of drug abuse among youth, PM Modi proposed establishing an institutional mechanism to enhance inter-departmental coordination and convergence in youth-centric initiatives. He also highlighted the significance of an integrated approach towards sports development, aiming for India to host major international sporting events and emerge as a global sports hub. The Prime Minister underscored the role of technology and innovation, particularly through startups, in promoting the sports sector.

PM Modi emphasized the need for governance systems to adapt and strengthen processes to meet evolving needs effectively. He suggested a comprehensive mapping of emerging requirements across Ministries and Departments and stressed the transformative potential of initiatives like the PM KUSUM Scheme in the agriculture sector. Additionally, he called for a global mapping of skill requirements to align with international opportunities and future needs.

During the meeting, Secretaries shared their experiences and challenges in various domains, while the Prime Minister outlined his suggestions and vision for future actions. The discussions focused on effective implementation, enhanced convergence, and accelerated progress towards the goals of Viksit Bharat.
