Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern over reports of the targeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence. He emphasized the importance of ongoing diplomatic efforts as the most effective way to end hostilities and achieve peace. PM Modi urged all parties involved to focus on these diplomatic endeavors and avoid actions that could hinder progress.

PM Modi’s statement follows Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s accusation against Ukraine for allegedly launching unmanned aerial vehicles at Putin’s state residence on December 29. Lavrov stated that Russia would retaliate against Ukraine’s attack, as reported by news agency Tass.

During the night of December 28-29, Lavrov claimed that Ukraine initiated a terrorist attack using 91 long-range strike unmanned aerial vehicles on Putin’s state residence in Novgorod Region. Russian air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed all drones, with no casualties or damage reported. This incident occurred amidst intense negotiations to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump disclosed having a positive and productive telephonic conversation with Russian President Putin before meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Florida to discuss a new peace plan for Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the phone call between Putin and Trump, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Trump expressed optimism about the peace negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, stating that significant progress had been made during his meeting with Zelensky at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. He highlighted the discussions on various subjects and the substantial progress achieved towards resolving the conflict.
