Ashadhi Ekadashi, also known as Devshayani Ekadashi or Hari Shayani Ekadashi, is being observed on Saturday, with the Ekadashi tithi starting at 2:44 a.m. on July 25 and concluding at 12:14 a.m. on July 26. This festival marks the commencement of Chaturmas, a sacred four-month period in Hindu tradition when Lord Vishnu is believed to enter divine sleep.
The term Devshayani signifies “when the deity goes to sleep,” symbolizing Lord Vishnu’s divine rest period. Devotees engage in rituals such as bathing, offering prayers, and reciting sacred mantras to seek divine blessings. Fasting, charity, and acts of kindness are also integral parts of the observance, emphasizing spiritual reflection and self-improvement.
