Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, became emotional as he remembered Thiru Poornachandran, a devotee, and criticized the ruling DMK government for insensitivity. He expressed sorrow over the tragic incident involving Poornachandran, who sacrificed his life amid the Karthigai Deepam row. PM Modi met Poornachandran’s wife and children, offering his condolences and showing solidarity with the bereaved family.

PM Modi highlighted the DMK government’s insensitivity towards faith and devotees, stating that attempts to suppress devotion would not succeed. He emphasized that truth, faith, and justice would prevail, even in the face of opposition from the DMK government. The Prime Minister’s remarks come amidst the political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu, with elections approaching and the BJP-led NDA intensifying its campaign against the ruling DMK.

The mention of the Karthigai Deepam controversy and Poornachandran’s sacrifice is expected to fuel further political discussions on governance, religious rights, and administrative handling in Tamil Nadu. PM Modi’s speech in Madurai combined developmental messages with political criticism, indicating that faith and cultural issues could play a significant role in the state’s upcoming elections.
