Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the positive changes in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected tribal areas under his government’s development-focused approach. He criticized past Congress-led administrations for failing to address Maoist violence effectively despite invoking the Constitution. PM Modi showcased India’s emergence as a reliable global power, with a commitment to “Nation First” guiding the nation’s progress.
The Prime Minister specifically addressed the issue of LWE, considering the eradication efforts a significant achievement of his government. He noted that previously neglected tribal regions, home to a large population, now experience development and improved living conditions. PM Modi highlighted the challenges faced in the past, where Maoist influence hindered access to basic facilities in many villages.
During his speech, PM Modi contrasted the current situation with the period from 2004 to 2014 when Maoist violence was rampant under the Congress-led UPA government. He pointed out that over 17,000 incidents and 7,000 deaths occurred due to Maoist activities during that time. The Prime Minister commended his government’s comprehensive strategy, combining security operations with extensive development initiatives, which have shown positive results in combating Naxalism.
PM Modi detailed the infrastructure improvements in LWE-affected areas, including the construction of over 12,000 kilometers of roads. He highlighted the deployment of workers and security personnel for project execution, the installation of mobile towers for enhanced connectivity, and the establishment of new bank branches and post offices. These measures, according to the Prime Minister, have brought governance closer to the people in remote regions, fostering development and inclusivity.
