Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a roadshow along the Wildlife Corridor in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, before launching the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. A large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister, who acknowledged them by waving back.
Participants at the roadshow showered flowers on PM Modi, holding the Tricolour and chanting slogans like “Modi, Modi,” “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” and “Jai Shri Ram.” Many attendees dressed in costumes and performed traditional folk dances to welcome the Prime Minister.
Later in the day, PM Modi is scheduled to visit the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun for Darshan and Pooja. Subsequently, he will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public event in Dehradun and address the audience.
The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, spanning 213 km with six lanes, has been developed at a cost exceeding Rs 12,000 crore. This corridor, passing through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, aims to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to approximately two and a half hours.
The project includes the construction of 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities to ensure seamless high-speed connectivity. Equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), the corridor promises a safer and more efficient travel experience for commuters.
Designed with a focus on ecological sensitivity and wildlife conservation, the corridor incorporates features to mitigate man-animal conflicts. Notably, it includes a 12 km-long wildlife elevated corridor, eight animal passes, two elephant underpasses of 200 meters each, and a 370-meter tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.
The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is expected to boost regional economic growth by enhancing connectivity between key tourism and economic hubs, facilitating trade, and fostering development in the region. The project aligns with PM Modi’s vision of developing modern infrastructure that integrates high-speed connectivity, environmental sustainability, and an improved quality of life for citizens.
