Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects totaling approximately Rs 4,000 crore in Sikkim. He emphasized the significance of the Northeast region, referring to it as India’s “Ashtalakshmi,” with Sikkim playing a crucial role within it.
Speaking at a public event in the Paljor stadium, PM Modi highlighted the government’s focus on Northeast development, shifting from the “Act East” policy to an “Act Fast” approach. Projects in healthcare, infrastructure, education, and other sectors amounting to Rs 4,000 crore were initiated on this occasion.
PM Modi praised Sikkim’s ecological diversity, mentioning its abundant biodiversity and natural beauty. He underscored the importance of enhancing connectivity to fully realize the tourism potential of the state. The Prime Minister also announced plans to establish 1,000 homestays in Sikkim to boost tourism and create local employment opportunities.
Referring to neglected healthcare infrastructure in the region, PM Modi launched new healthcare programs and emphasized the government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare services in Sikkim and the Northeast. The projects inaugurated are aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing public services, and further integrating Sikkim with the rest of the country.
