Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Ashoknagar railway station in Madhya Pradesh, constructed at a cost of Rs 37 crore. This station is part of the initiative to revamp 75 railway stations nationwide under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Union Communications Minister and local MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, present at the inauguration, highlighted the station’s role in the modernization of railway infrastructure and enhancement of passenger amenities. He emphasized the significant improvements in Indian Railways under PM Modi’s leadership, citing the transformation evident at Ashoknagar station.
The redeveloped Ashoknagar railway station serves a daily influx of 5,000 to 6,000 passengers and witnesses the passage of 15 to 17 trains. The upgraded facilities aim to benefit around 1.5 lakh passengers monthly, offering enhanced services and improved accessibility.
Scindia disclosed that the current redevelopment phase covers one side of the station, with plans for the other side in the subsequent phase. The station will feature two entry and exit gates upon completion to facilitate smoother passenger flow.
Efforts are underway to enhance rail connectivity in the region, with progress on the Bina-Kota rail section and initiatives to introduce additional train stoppages at Ashoknagar and construct railway underbridges. The newly launched Bina-Guna-Ruthiyai MEMU train has already bolstered local connectivity, with flexibility in train timings based on public demand.
Highlighting the pivotal role of railway projects in fostering connectivity and economic growth, Scindia emphasized that the revamped station will elevate passenger experience and contribute to regional development.
