Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rs 6,957-crore Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project in Nagaon district of Assam. This project, one of the largest wildlife-friendly infrastructure initiatives, aims to facilitate safe wildlife movement across Kaziranga National Park and reduce road accidents on National Highway, while promoting eco-tourism.
The Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project, with a budget of nearly Rs 6,950 crore, will span approximately 35 km along National Highway-715 in the Kaziranga region. Its primary objective is to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of wildlife, particularly during floods, thereby mitigating human-wildlife conflicts.
Featuring elevated roads, widened pathways, and bypasses, the project is meticulously designed to prioritize environmental conservation and ecosystem preservation. Local residents expressed gratitude towards PM Modi for initiating the project, anticipating a boost in local employment opportunities as a result.
Participants at the event, including women, hailed the project as a progressive and compassionate endeavor that will enhance regional infrastructure while safeguarding the wildlife of Kaziranga.
