Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respects at Mahatma Gandhi Statue at Peace Park in Seychelles and engaged with Indian diaspora members who warmly received him. The diaspora, carrying the Tricolour, cheered “Modi Modi” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” during his arrival. PM Modi also spent time with children present to greet him.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited the Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple, where he prayed and met with Indian community members. The community expressed excitement and readiness to welcome him, highlighting the elaborate preparations made for his visit. Members shared their joy and anticipation for the Prime Minister’s presence on Seychelles’ 50th National Day.
During his visit, PM Modi was honored with the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ award for his environmental leadership. He participated in Seychelles’ National Day celebrations as a special guest and engaged in discussions with President Patrick Herminie. India and Seychelles enjoy a strong partnership based on historical, cultural, and people-to-people connections, reflecting India’s commitment to regional growth and security.
