Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign during his monthly radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He praised the significant public involvement in tree plantation initiatives across India, urging citizens to continue merging environmental conservation with personal milestones.
The Prime Minister highlighted the campaign’s success in inspiring diverse individuals to contribute to nature conservation. Noteworthy achievements included a massive tree plantation drive in Ahmedabad where over 3.5 lakh saplings were planted in just one hour with the participation of more than 25,000 people.
PM Modi emphasized the importance of trees not only for humans but also for various species dependent on forests for survival. He mentioned the return of the Indian Grey Hornbill to Gujarat’s Gir forests after six decades, attributing it to sustained conservation efforts. He urged people to integrate tree planting into significant life events to support the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.
