Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the ‘Kannada Mitraru U.A.E’ for establishing a successful school in Dubai, promoting the Kannada language among Indian diaspora children. Shashidhar Nagarajappa, President of the Kannada Patha Shaale Dubai (KPSD) and Karnataka Sangha Dubai, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Kannada, praising the KPSD for its efforts in teaching thousands of children their mother tongue abroad.
Following PM Modi’s mention of the Dubai Kannada School, the entire Kannada community in Dubai was elated. Nagarajappa shared that the community was overwhelmed by the unexpected acknowledgment. The initiative, which began in 2014, has garnered global appreciation, with congratulatory messages pouring in from around the world.
The Dubai Kannada School, established on Kannada Rajyotsava Day in 2014, offers classes on Fridays and Saturdays with nearly 1,400 students currently enrolled. The school, supported by dedicated volunteers and office-bearers, has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the Kannada language. Nagarajappa highlighted the school’s commitment to language preservation and its impact on future generations.
Nagarajappa underscored the importance of maintaining Kannada-medium schools, emphasizing the language’s significance for the state’s growth and identity. The initiative, driven by a love for the language, has received support from various community leaders and patrons. The school’s success in teaching Kannada to children of diverse backgrounds has been a source of pride for the community.
