Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met at the India-Australia CEO Forum. Albanese welcomed PM Modi, and they posed for a photograph. PM Modi is set to address business leaders from both countries at the forum. The CEO Forum, active since 2012, was relaunched in 2023 by PM Modi and Albanese to enhance economic ties between India and Australia.
PM Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community in Melbourne before the CEO Forum. He expressed gratitude for the affection and bond with India shown by the community. The Indian diaspora welcomed PM Modi with cultural performances and chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Modi, Modi’. PM Modi praised the Australian-India Orchestra’s rendition of ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ and the musical performance featuring Australia’s Didgeridoo and India’s Tabla.
During his visit, PM Modi also enjoyed a Kathak performance and expressed joy at the popularity of Indian dances in Australia. He highlighted the importance of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. PM Modi will co-chair the 3rd Annual Summit with PM Albanese and engage with stakeholders to deepen bilateral ties across various sectors. He is scheduled to address the Indian diaspora in Melbourne and meet with Australia’s Governor-General, Sam Mostyn.
Australian PM Albanese described India as a key economic partner, emphasizing the growing strategic significance of bilateral relations. He welcomed PM Modi for the Annual Leaders’ Summit, underscoring the importance of the Australia-India relationship in fostering peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Both leaders are committed to strengthening the deep partnership between Australia and India.
