Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The leaders exchanged warm greetings before the meeting, with PM Takaichi showing respect to the national flags of both countries. The 16th India-Japan Annual Summit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation and discuss global issues.
PM Takaichi received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan earlier in the day. This visit marks her first official trip to India since taking office. The leaders are set to strengthen the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations during the three-day visit.
Before departing for India, PM Takaichi emphasized the significance of Japan’s collaboration with India amidst the current global scenario. She highlighted key areas of cooperation, including strategic partnership, economic security, and business collaboration. The visit also includes the Japan-India Joint Economic Forum with over 150 Japanese companies participating.
PM Takaichi stressed the shared responsibility of India and Japan in maintaining peace in the Indo-Pacific region. She expressed eagerness to discuss efforts towards a Free and Open Indo-Pacific with PM Modi. The visit aims to deepen personal trust and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
