Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the Tri-Commissioning ceremony of INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in West Bengal. This event marked a significant enhancement of India’s naval capabilities. The ceremony coincided with International Yoga Day and World Hydrography Day, adding symbolic importance.

During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the special significance of the day. He mentioned the global celebration of International Day of Yoga and expressed his happiness to be in Bengal, a land that has historically connected India to the world through sea routes. Modi announced the induction of the three naval vessels into the Indian Navy.

Emphasizing the importance of maritime awareness, PM Modi noted the celebration of World Hydrography Day. He highlighted the commissioning of INS Sanshodhak, India’s most advanced hydrographic survey ship. Stressing the strategic value of sea power, he underlined the crucial role of maritime capability in a country’s development and security.

PM Modi also discussed India’s naval progress, citing the significance of INS Vikrant in showcasing the nation’s maritime capability. He emphasized India’s shift from being a defense equipment buyer to a creator, aiming for self-reliance and a stronger global role. The Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing expansion of naval infrastructure and the employment potential in the maritime sector.

The commissioning of these three warships signifies a major step in bolstering India’s maritime defense capabilities and advancing the country’s goal of self-reliance in the naval sector.
