Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the legacies of revolutionaries Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Chandra Shekhar Azad on their respective birth anniversaries. Tilak, born on July 23, 1856, known as “Lokmanya,” played a significant role in India’s freedom movement. Chandra Shekhar Azad, born on the same day in 1906, was a fearless revolutionary who reshaped the Hindustan Republican Association.
PM Modi praised Tilak for his pivotal role in inspiring nationalism and serving the people. He highlighted Tilak’s efforts in promoting Indian culture and unity, emphasizing the enduring impact of his writings. Additionally, the Prime Minister paid homage to the courageous Chandra Shekhar Azad, acknowledging his unwavering patriotism and his influence on the youth of the nation.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also commemorated Bal Gangadhar Tilak, recognizing him as a key figure in India’s fight for independence. Shah lauded Tilak’s dedication to preserving Indian languages, goods, and culture. He emphasized Tilak’s famous quote, “Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it,” underscoring its profound impact on the nation’s quest for freedom.
