PM Modi Plants Saplings on World Environment Day in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the planting of nearly one lakh saplings in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, emphasizing sustainable development. He highlighted the importance of balancing environmental responsibility with infrastructure growth and economic progress. PM Modi commended the Union Territory for its commitment to environmental protection while pursuing economic advancement.

The Prime Minister lauded local initiatives in renewable energy, citing Diu’s achievement of meeting daytime electricity needs through solar power. He praised the Union Territory for using 100% solar energy in government buildings, with plans to expand rooftop solar projects for household electricity generation. PM Modi also appreciated the community’s efforts in cleanliness campaigns alongside environmental endeavors.

Emphasizing the integration of environmental stewardship into development planning, PM Modi underscored the significance of the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. This campaign encourages tree planting in honor of mothers to support environmental conservation. He urged citizens to actively engage in sustainability efforts, including tree planting, renewable energy adoption, and community-led cleanliness initiatives.
