Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent speech in the Lok Sabha, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary traditions and collective efforts for national progress. Shah had staunchly supported Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and criticized the opposition’s attempt to bring a no-confidence motion against him, highlighting the Speaker’s non-partisan role.
Modi commended Shah’s address, stating it was factual and underscored the significance of upholding parliamentary norms for the country’s advancement. Shah, during his speech, reiterated that the Speaker represents the entire House and is not aligned with any political party, condemning the opposition’s move as an attack on constitutional principles.
Shah criticized the opposition for casting doubt on the Speaker’s integrity, noting that such actions undermine democratic institutions’ credibility. He emphasized that questioning the Speaker’s neutrality hampers Parliament’s functioning and diminishes trust in constitutional positions. Shah also pointed out that while differences in opinions are acceptable, the Speaker’s rulings are final as per Lok Sabha rules.
