Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the increasing public involvement in the ‘Catch The Rain’ initiative during his recent ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast. He highlighted the nationwide endeavors to conserve rainwater, rejuvenate traditional water bodies, and bolster groundwater resources. The campaign, aimed at preserving rainwater through mass participation, has gained momentum across villages and cities, with active contributions from citizens.
Expressing contentment with the enthusiastic response, PM Modi emphasized the broad engagement of citizens, local bodies, and community organizations in water conservation efforts. He cited examples of various states where significant water conservation projects have shown positive outcomes. For instance, Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district has constructed around 1,500 ponds, Narsinghpur has restored ‘Amrit Sarovars,’ and Nashik in Maharashtra has enhanced its water storage capacity.
PM Modi also highlighted the success stories from cities like Korba in Chhattisgarh, Bhubaneswar in Odisha, and Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh. He urged people to actively participate in conserving water bodies in their vicinity, emphasizing the importance of saving every drop of water for the benefit of future generations.
