Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) from West Bengal, transferring over Rs 18,880 crore directly to more than 9.44 crore farmers nationwide. In Rajasthan, over Rs 1,320 crore was transferred to accounts of more than 66 lakh farmers under this instalment, boosting the state’s agricultural sector. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma participated in the event through video conferencing and praised the PM-Kisan scheme for providing financial stability to farmers.
Under Modi’s leadership, farmers are progressing towards self-reliance and prosperity, as highlighted by the Chief Minister during the state-level event. Since its inception in 2019, the PM-Kisan scheme has facilitated the direct transfer of over Rs 4.46 lakh crore to farmers’ bank accounts across the country. This recent instalment coinciding with the Kharif sowing season aims to assist farmers in meeting their agricultural needs.
The Chief Minister commended Modi for establishing a transparent governance system through the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) framework, ensuring direct benefit transfers to recipients. This approach has minimized leakages and corruption, providing timely aid to farmers without intermediaries. Over the years, the Central government has introduced various farmer-centric initiatives, covering the agricultural value chain comprehensively.
