To commemorate the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi renamed Adampur Airport in Punjab as Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport. Shortly after presenting the Union Budget 2026 in Parliament, PM Modi inaugurated the terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana.
The renaming of Adampur airport on Sant Guru Ravidas’ anniversary pays tribute to the revered saint known for his teachings of equality and compassion. Additionally, the terminal building at Halwara airport enhances aviation infrastructure in Punjab, serving Ludhiana and its industrial and agricultural surroundings.
Halwara, situated in Ludhiana district, is not only a civil enclave but also houses a strategically significant Indian Air Force station. The new terminal at Halwara features sustainable and energy-efficient elements, aligning with PM Modi’s vision of responsible development and showcasing Punjab’s cultural heritage.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan on Ravidas Jayanti, an occasion significant for the Ravidassia community in Punjab. The Dera, led by Sant Niranjan Das, holds considerable influence in the Doaba region, impacting a significant number of Assembly seats.
