Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone call with King Abdullah II of Jordan to discuss India’s concerns about the escalating situation in West Asia. The conversation took place against the backdrop of heightened military clashes involving the US, Israel, and Iran, drawing in neighboring countries through retaliatory actions. Modi emphasized India’s support for peace, security, and the well-being of Jordan’s people during the call.

The Prime Minister also appreciated King Abdullah II for ensuring the safety and support of the Indian community in Jordan amidst the ongoing crisis. This diplomatic outreach reflects India’s efforts to engage with regional leaders as tensions rise in West Asia. Recent events include joint US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets and subsequent Iranian missile attacks on various locations, affecting countries like Jordan.

As the security situation evolves, Jordan has implemented precautionary measures such as partial nightly airspace closures to protect civil aviation. Modi’s discussion with King Abdullah II follows similar talks with leaders of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, where he condemned attacks on their sovereignty and reiterated India’s solidarity. India’s focus remains on safeguarding its expatriate workforce in the Middle East while advocating for de-escalation and stability in the region.

The ongoing crisis has disrupted international aviation, leading to airspace restrictions and concerns about a broader regional conflict. India continues to advocate for dialogue and restraint in global forums, positioning itself as a proponent of peaceful conflict resolution. Modi’s message underscored the strong bilateral relations between India and Jordan, emphasizing mutual respect and cooperation amid regional uncertainties.

High-level engagements like these aim to promote calm and ensure the well-being of affected populations, including Indian nationals residing in West Asia. The situation highlights the importance of diplomatic efforts in maintaining stability and security in the region.
