Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a video conference with Chief Ministers on Friday to discuss the West Asia conflict and review state preparedness and plans. The meeting aims to ensure coordinated efforts under the ‘Team India’ spirit amidst escalating geopolitical tensions. Chief Ministers from states undergoing elections will not participate due to the model code of conduct in place.
The meeting is expected to provide a platform for PM Modi to update Chief Ministers on India’s crisis approach and seek a consensus. A separate session will be conducted for Chief Secretaries of election-bound states through the Cabinet Secretariat. Recently, an all-party meeting was organized at the Parliament House complex to address the West Asia situation.
During the Parliament address on the conflict, PM Modi mentioned the formation of seven empowered groups to devise strategies concerning fuel, supply chains, and fertilizers. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the all-party meeting, attended by key leaders like Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The government assured opposition parties of addressing their queries and concerns.
The meeting comes at a time of heightened tensions in West Asia, impacting vital maritime routes and raising worries about the safety of Indian citizens in Gulf nations.
