Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, and have meetings with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima on Saturday during his official visit to the country. Additionally, PM Modi will address the Indian community and have interactions with prominent business figures from the Netherlands during his visit. This trip marks his second visit to the Netherlands, the first being in 2017, and is crucial for enhancing the strategic cooperation between India and the Netherlands.
PM Modi’s visit to the Netherlands is part of a larger diplomatic tour across Europe aimed at strengthening India’s strategic, economic, and technological partnerships in the region. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, announced the Prime Minister’s arrival, emphasizing the opportunity to bolster the multifaceted India-Netherlands partnership and engage with the significant Indian diaspora in mainland Europe. The visit is expected to further deepen the partnership between the two nations across various sectors, including trade, investment, technology, innovation, defence, security, and more.
During a special briefing on the visit, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Sibi George, highlighted the deepening partnership between India and the Netherlands in recent years. The collaboration has expanded into key areas such as water, agriculture, health, technology, education, and the maritime domain, reflecting the growing strategic ties between the two countries. People-to-people connections play a vital role in the bilateral relationship, with the Netherlands hosting a significant number of non-resident Indians, persons of Indian origin, and Indian students pursuing higher education in the country.
The visit is expected to solidify the evolving strategic dimensions of the India-Netherlands partnership, which have been cultivated through the sustained efforts of both nations. With a rich and substantive agenda, the visit aims to strengthen the existing ties and explore new avenues of cooperation between India and the Netherlands.
