Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Sunday to address public gatherings and unveil development projects totaling over Rs 7,000 crore. In Puducherry, projects worth Rs 2,700 crore will be inaugurated, with the PM also laying the foundation stone for these initiatives. Additionally, he will address the public during this event.
Later in the day, PM Modi will head to Madurai to launch projects amounting to Rs 4,400 crore and engage with the local community at a public meeting. Furthermore, he will visit the Arulmigu Subramaniyaswamy Temple in Madurai around 4 p.m. to offer prayers.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes laying the foundation stone for the four-laning of the Marakkanam–Puducherry Section of NH-332A and the Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram Section of NH-87. This infrastructure development is aimed at easing traffic congestion in Puducherry’s urban areas, reducing travel time by almost 50%, from one hour to approximately 30 minutes. Additionally, rail infrastructure projects will be inaugurated to enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency in the state.
PM Modi will also inaugurate eight redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Tamil Nadu. These stations include Morappur, Bommidi, Srivilliputtur, Sholavandan, Manaparai, Pollachi Junction, Karaikkudi Junction, and Thiruvarur Junction. In Puducherry, he will dedicate the 750-acre Karasur-Sedarapet Industrial Estate, which will host various industrial parks and advanced healthcare facilities, fostering industrial growth and employment opportunities in the region.
